Okay, so today I decided to dive into this whole “sea turtle spirit” thing. I’d heard about it – you know, slow and steady wins the race, resilience, all that jazz. I figured, why not give it a shot and see if I could embody a little sea turtle energy in my own life?
First Steps: Taking it Slow
I started by ditching my usual frantic morning routine. Usually, I’m rushing around like a headless chicken, scarfing down breakfast, and sprinting out the door. Today, I actually sat down and ate my breakfast. Like, really ate it. I noticed the taste, the texture…it was weird, but good!
I also decided to walk to the coffee shop instead of driving. It’s only a few blocks, but I always tell myself I’m “too busy” to walk. Turns out, it was actually pretty nice. I saw some flowers blooming, heard some birds chirping – stuff I usually miss when I’m speeding by in my car.

Embracing the Journey (and the Obstacles)
The “spirit” part really came into play later in the day. I had this project I’d been putting off, a real pain in the neck. Normally, I’d either procrastinate until the last minute or get overwhelmed and give up. Today, I channeled my inner sea turtle.
- I broke down the project into tiny, manageable steps.
- I focused on one step at a time, no multitasking madness.
- When I hit a snag (and I definitely did), I didn’t freak out. I just took a deep breath, backed up a bit, and tried a different approach.
It was slow going, for sure. But, bit by bit, I started to make progress. It felt…good. Like I was actually accomplishing something, not just spinning my wheels.
The End Result (So Far)
I’m not gonna lie, I haven’t finished the project yet. But that’s okay. The sea turtle spirit isn’t about instant gratification. It’s about the journey, the persistence, the slow and steady progress. I’m feeling pretty good about how I handled things today, and I’m actually looking forward to tackling the next chunk of the project tomorrow. Maybe this whole sea turtle thing has some merit after all!
