Okay, so I’ve been feeling this pull towards really understanding the moon phases and their energies. I started with the waxing crescent moon, because, you know, new beginnings and all that. It seemed like a good place to jump in.
Getting Started
First, I just observed. I mean, really looked at the moon. I’d go outside each night, find that little sliver of light, and just sit with it. No phone, no distractions, just me and the moon. I wanted to get a feel for it, you know?
- Night 1: Found the moon, sat outside for about 10 minutes. Felt kinda silly, but peaceful.
- Night 2: Repeated the process. This time I brought a blanket. It was chilly! Noticed how the moon seemed a bit brighter.
- Night 3: Okay, I’m getting into this. Felt a real sense of calm.
Setting Intentions
Then I thought, “Okay, let’s get intentional.” The waxing crescent is supposed to be about setting intentions, planting seeds, right? So I grabbed my journal and started writing.

I didn’t go all out with some huge, life-altering goals. I just focused on small, manageable things. Stuff I actually wanted to work on. Things like:
- “I want to be more patient with my kids.”
- “I want to drink more water every day.” (Seriously, I’m terrible at this.)
- “I want to finish that online course I started, like, six months ago.”
I wrote these intentions down during that waxing crescent phase, while I was outside, looking at the moon. It felt… powerful. Like I was actually sending those desires out into the universe.
Taking Action
The next part was the hardest: actually doing something. It’s all well and good to write stuff down, but you gotta follow through, right?
So, I picked one intention – the water one – and made it my mission. I bought a fancy new water bottle (that helped!), and I set reminders on my phone. Every hour, beep beep, time to drink!
It wasn’t perfect. I definitely missed some reminders. But I kept trying. And you know what? I actually started drinking more water. I felt better, more energized. It was a small win, but it felt huge.

Reflecting
Throughout this whole process, I tried and kept checking in with myself. How did I feel? Was I making progress? Was this whole moon thing actually doing anything for me?
I used my journal again. Writing helped me put all my experiments and feelings toghter.
And honestly? It did. It wasn’t magic, but it was a framework. The waxing crescent moon became this reminder to focus, to set intentions, and to actually work towards them. It was about connecting with something bigger than myself, and that felt pretty amazing.
Now, I’m looking forward to track other moon phases. Wish me good luck!
