Okay, here is my sharing about the “28-45” in English, following your instructions:
So, I got my hands on this new lens, the 28-45mm. Yeah, the one from Sigma. I heard some buzz about it, and since I was already a fan of their 18-35mm from way back, I figured I’d give this one a shot. It’s part of their “Art” series, which usually means it’s pretty darn good, so my expectations were high.
First off, this thing is manual. Like, fully manual. Manual aperture, manual focus, the whole nine yards. I know some folks are gonna be put off by that, but I kinda like it. It makes you slow down and think about what you’re doing, you know? Not just spray and pray.
I took it with me on a trip to the UK. Yeah, a proper field test. I wanted to see how it handled different situations, different lighting, all that jazz. I snapped a bunch of photos. I mean, a lot. Street scenes, some landscapes, a few portraits here and there. Just your typical tourist stuff, mostly.
The Build
- Feels solid, like it can take a beating.
- It’s not small, definitely has some heft to it.
- The rings are smooth, feels premium when you’re adjusting.
Image quality? Pretty impressive, I gotta say. Sharp, even wide open. I didn’t notice any weird distortions or anything. Colors look good, natural. I was shooting at f/1.8 a lot, and the background blur, or bokeh, as the fancy folks call it, it’s real nice. Creamy smooth.
The Experience
- Manual focus took some getting used to, but it’s precise.
- Being able to shoot at f/1.8 in low light was a game-changer.
- I found myself using this lens more than I expected.
So, yeah, I dig this lens. It’s not for everyone, that’s for sure. But if you’re into manual lenses and you want something versatile with great image quality, this 28-45mm is worth checking out. I know I’ll be using it a lot more.
It’s a solid piece of glass, and I’m happy I added it to my kit. That trip to the UK? This lens made it even better. It captured everything just the way I wanted.
This lens isn’t some cheap knock-off. It’s the real deal. I’d say, after using it extensively, that it lives up to the hype. Now I understand why they discontinued the older model, this thing is on another level.

All in all I have had a great experience with this lens and I can recommend it without reservation. If you are thinking about getting one, just do it. You won’t regret it.
