Alright, let’s talk about Keeper Security for a minute. I’ve been using it for a while now to keep track of all those darn passwords you need these days. It works, does the job. But when I first started, I kept seeing all these little icons, these symbols popping up next to my entries in the vault. Honestly, for a bit there, I was just guessing what they meant.
You know how it is, you see something like a little shield, and you figure, ‘Okay, must be something about security, good password maybe?’ Makes sense. But then there were others. I remember seeing one that looked like a tiny clock or timer, and another that looked like two little figures. What the heck were those supposed to tell me? Just staring at them didn’t exactly reveal their secrets.
So, I decided I needed to actually figure this out instead of just ignoring them. My first step was just clicking around inside the Keeper app itself. Sometimes if you hover your mouse over an icon, a little tooltip pops up. That helped with a couple, but not all of them. Some only made sense after I actually opened up the record or tried to do something, like sharing an entry.

When just poking around wasn’t enough, I went looking for the help section or user guide. Most apps have one buried somewhere, right? Found Keeper’s documentation, and started scrolling through. Took a little digging, wasn’t always super obvious where to look, but eventually, I found explanations for most of the common symbols I was seeing.
What I Figured Out
So after all that clicking and reading, here’s the rundown on some of the main symbols I kept bumping into:
- The Shield: Yeah, this one usually relates to password strength or the security audit feature. Sometimes it’s colored, like green for good, maybe red or orange if there’s an issue.
- Two People Icon: This one turned out to be pretty straightforward once I used the feature. It just means the record is shared with somebody else. Makes sense.
- Clock/Timer Icon: This little guy usually shows up when you’ve set up a two-factor authentication (2FA or TOTP) code within Keeper for that login. It’s time-based, so the clock makes sense.
- Warning Triangle: If you see this yellow or red triangle, pay attention. It means Keeper thinks there’s a problem, like the password is weak, or maybe you’ve used it on multiple sites. Definitely worth checking out that record.
- Paperclip: This is a classic. Just means you’ve attached a file or a photo to that record. Simple enough.
- Star: Usually means you’ve marked that record as a favorite for quick access.
It wasn’t exactly brain surgery, but it did take a conscious effort to hunt down the meanings. They weren’t always immediately obvious just by looking at them. Once I knew what they meant, though, navigating my vault and understanding the status of my records became much quicker. It’s just one of those things – you gotta invest a few minutes to learn the tool you’re using, you know?
