So, my birthday was coming up, and I had this kinda silly idea. What if I turned my birthday into lottery numbers? I mean, why not, right? It’s all random anyway, so I figured I’d give it a shot and document the whole thing.
The Brainstorm
First, I needed to figure out how I was gonna do this. My birthday is on July 24th, 1992. So I had 07, 24, and 1992 to work with. Too many numbers! Most lotteries I’ve seen have you pick like, 5 or 6 numbers, usually from 1 to 69, and some powerball extra number.
Breaking it Down
I started playing around with the numbers, I wrote all numbers in a paper.

- I decided to use the month and day straight up: 07 and 24. That was easy.
- The year was trickier. 1992 is way too big. So, I tried adding the digits together: 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 21. Okay, 21 it is!
- I was still missing some, and I decided to pick the last two year numbers as one, so I added 92.
- I had 4 numbers 07, 24, 21 and 92, and needed more, so I decided to add 19 and 92 separeted, so I got 19.
The “System” (If You Can Call It That)
Okay, so I had a bunch of numbers now: 07, 24, 21,92, 19. Some were still out of the usual range, but I would cut them if needed depending on the lottery.
The Experiment
I grabbed a lottery ticket. I looked at the numbers I had, and used them.
I played those numbers, and I did not win any prize.
I decided to create variations, so next time instead of 92, I would have play with 11 (9+2), and so on.

Final Thoughts
It was a fun little experiment. Did I win big? Nope. Did I expect to? Also nope.
But it was a fun way to kill a bit time, and who knows, maybe one day my birthday numbers will hit the jackpot. Until then, I’ve got a fun little story, and this sharing I can show to my friends.
