Okay, so the other day I was staring at my calendar, thinking about my upcoming birthday, and this goofy idea popped into my head: What if I turned my birthday into lottery numbers? I mean, why not, right? It’s as good a method as any, I guess. So, I decided to actually try it out and document the whole silly process.
The Brainstorm (If You Can Call It That)
First, I needed to figure out how to represent my birthday as numbers. Simple enough, I thought. My birthday is on June 27th. So, initially, I had:
- 06 (for June)
- 27 (for the 27th)
But most lotteries need more than just two numbers. I had to get creative… or, you know, more creative.

Adding More Numbers
I then decided to include the year I was born, 1991. I played around with a few ideas:
- Use the whole year: * has four digits.
- Just take the last two digits: 91.
- Sum the digits: 1+9+9+1, get to 20.
I felt using the full year straight away, 1991, will result in a too big number, some lotteries may have a limit like 1-50. So, I try to avoid directly using it.
The “Method”
I decided to mix and match. Here’s the completely arbitrary system I ended up with:
- Month: Kept it simple, 06.
- Day: Again, straightforward, 27.
- Year (Part 1): Used the last two digits, 91.
- Year (Part 2): Added the digits of the year together( 1+9+9+1), 20.
So I have four numbers: 06, 27, 91, 20.
I’m not sure whether this is enough, some lotteries have 6 numbers. Then I take the last two digits, 91, and plus one, to be 92. I also added 02, as I was born very early in the morning, 2 o’clock.

The Final Numbers
And there you have it. My completely unscientific, based-on-nothing-but-my-birthday lottery number picks are:
- 06
- 27
- 91
- 20
- 92
- 02
Did I Win?
Of course not! I mean, I didn’t expect to, but it would have been a great story, huh? Still, it was a fun little experiment. Maybe it’ll be your lucky day if you try it with your own birthday. Who knows? The lottery is all random, anyway, so why not add a little personal, equally random, twist?
