So, I finally got around to tackling ‘The Chains That Bind’ prophecy the other day. It had been sitting in my prophecy list for a while, just kinda staring at me. I figured, why not, let’s see what it’s all about.
Getting Started
First thing I remembered, or rather looked up because my memory is shot, is that you need to find one of those Vaal Vessels. Not just any vessel, mind you, but one inside a Vaal side area, and specifically in a map that’s Tier 13 or higher. Okay, seemed simple enough on paper.
I started just running maps I had lying around. Grabbed a stack of T13s and T14s, mostly stuff like:

- Some Dunes maps
- A few Coves
- Whatever else was cluttering up the tab
Just alch-and-go, really. Wasn’t trying anything fancy. Just needed to find that specific side area portal.
The Grind… or Lack Thereof?
Ran the first map. No Vaal side area. Okay, no big deal. Ran the second, third, fourth… still nothing. You know how it goes with RNG in this game. Sometimes you hit the jackpot first try, other times you feel like the game just forgot certain mechanics exist for you.
I was bracing myself for a long session, maybe having to buy specific maps or roll sextants to force the side areas. Started thinking, man, is this prophecy even worth the hassle? The unique reward, Chains of Command, is cool for specific builds, but I wasn’t planning on rolling an Animate Weapon character right then.
But then, maybe on the sixth or seventh map – I think it was a Silo map, T14 – bam! There it was. The little swirling red portal thingy for the Vaal side area. Felt a little bit of relief, not gonna lie. Didn’t have to burn through my whole map stash after all.
Finishing the Job
Hopped into the side area. It was one of those typical Vaal ruins places, you know the look. Cleared out the usual packs of corrupted mobs. Wasn’t too rippy, thankfully. Made my way through, looking for that distinct Vaal Vessel.

Found it tucked away in a corner in the final room, just past the mini-boss thing. Walked up, clicked it… and boom. The prophecy flashed complete on the side of the screen. Easy peasy, once you actually find the darn thing.
The Chains of Command armor dropped right there. Picked it up, looked it over. Decent rolls, nothing god-tier. Threw it in the stash for now. Maybe I’ll use it someday, maybe I’ll sell it if the price is right. Who knows?
So yeah, that was my little adventure with ‘The Chains That Bind’. Didn’t turn out to be the massive time sink I was half-expecting, which was nice. Just another prophecy checked off the list. Onto the next thing!
