Okay, so lately I’ve been super into exploring different spiritual meanings behind things, ya know? And jellyfish have always kinda fascinated me. They’re so weird and floaty, it’s hard not to wonder what they’re all about on a deeper level.
First thing I did was hit up Google, like you do. I just typed in “jellyfish meaning spiritual” and BOOM, a ton of stuff popped up. I saw some stuff about them representing going with the flow, which makes sense ’cause they just kinda drift along, right? I also saw stuff about emotional healing and letting go of the past. Pretty heavy stuff!
But I didn’t just wanna read about it, I wanted to feel it, you know? So, I decided to try a little visualization thing. I put on some chill music – think ocean sounds and maybe some Enya, haha – and I closed my eyes. I imagined myself as a jellyfish, just floating in the ocean, no worries, no stress.

It was actually kinda cool. I focused on my breath and tried to really get into the mindset of just being. No deadlines, no drama, just floating. I pictured the water around me, the colors shifting, and just let myself relax. I did this for like, 20 minutes. Afterwards, I felt surprisingly calm. Like a weight had been lifted, seriously.
Then, I got even more into it. I decided to paint a jellyfish! I’m no artist, trust me, but I figured the act of creating something based on the imagery would help me connect with the symbolism even more. I grabbed some watercolors, looked up some jellyfish pictures online, and just started slapping paint on paper.
It was messy, it wasn’t perfect, but the whole time I was thinking about the ideas of flexibility, going with the current, and letting go of control. I really focused on the flow of the water and the transparency of the jellyfish itself.
After I finished the painting (which is now hanging on my fridge, lol), I realized that it wasn’t just about the jellyfish itself, but about what it represented to me. It was a reminder to be more adaptable, to not sweat the small stuff, and to trust that things will work out even if I don’t have all the answers.
- First step: Google search, research different interpretations.
- Second step: Visualization exercise, imagining myself as a jellyfish.
- Third step: Creative expression, painting a jellyfish while focusing on its symbolism.
Honestly, it was a pretty cool experience. I’m not saying I’m suddenly enlightened or anything, but it definitely gave me a new perspective on things. Maybe next I’ll try figuring out the spiritual meaning of, like, a sea cucumber or something! Haha!
