Yesterday, I saw a buddy online talking about some number stuff, and it got me thinking. So, I decided to mess around with it myself. I’m calling it “18 56” for now, just ’cause those are the numbers I started with.
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen – old school, I know. I wrote down “18” and then, a bit further down, “56”. The idea was to see what’s the connection, how to get the numbers between these two.
I started by adding the digits of 18 together, you know, 1 + 8 = 9. Then, I added that 9 to the original 18, giving me 27. Okay, that’s something.

- 18 + (1+8) = 27
I kept going with this, taking the 27 and adding its digits (2 + 7 = 9) to get 36.
- 27 + (2+7) = 36
Followed by 36 + (3+6) = 45.
- 36 + (3+6) = 45
One more time:
45 + (4+5) = 54.

- 45 + (4+5) = 54
I was getting closer to 56.
Getting to 56
I noticed I was only 2 away from 56 at number 54. It’s so close! Then I got 54, I know 5+4=9 and 54+9=63, it’s already pass 56.
So, that’s basically it. It was a bit of random fun, just playing with numbers and seeing where they would go. I’m not saying it’s a big discovery or anything, but it was a fun little experiment for me to kill some time.
