I finally got the chance to make Leo’s Landing happen. I started by gathering all the necessary stuff. First, I got a piece of plywood from the garage. It was a bit dusty, but nothing a good wipe couldn’t fix. Then, I measured the area where I wanted to place the landing.
Next, I drew up a simple design on paper. I wanted it to be sturdy and have some storage space underneath. After finalizing the design, I grabbed my saw and started cutting the plywood according to the measurements. It took some time, but I managed to get all the pieces ready.
- Cut plywood for the base
- Cut support beams
- Prepare the side panels
Building it Up
With all the pieces cut, I began assembling the landing. I used wood glue and screws to put the base together. I had to make sure everything was level and square. Once the base was solid, I attached the support beams. I double-checked the measurements to ensure they were evenly spaced.

The next step was to add the side panels. I used more wood glue and screws to secure them in place. I had to be careful not to split the wood. With the panels on, the landing started to take shape. I also added some extra support inside to make it more robust.
Finishing Touches
After the main structure was complete, I sanded down all the edges to make them smooth. This took a while, but it was worth it to avoid splinters. Then, I applied a coat of primer to the entire structure. I let it dry overnight.
The next day, I painted the landing with a nice, dark brown color. I chose this color because it matches the other furniture in the room. I applied two coats of paint, making sure to let each coat dry completely before applying the next one.
Finally, I added some non-slip mats on the top to make it safer. I also installed some small hooks on the side for hanging things. After everything was dry and set, I moved the landing to its final spot. It fit perfectly and looked great! I’m really happy with how it turned out, and it’s super practical too.
