Okay, so I’ve been messing around with tarot cards lately, just for fun, you know? And I got really curious about this one card, the Eight of Swords. It looks pretty intense, right? So I wanted to figure out if it usually means “yes” or “no” in a reading.
First, I grabbed my trusty deck and shuffled it a bunch of times. I like to make sure the cards are good and mixed up. Then, I took a deep breath and focused on a simple question I had: “Should I start that new project I’ve been thinking about?”
I laid out a single card – and boom – there it was, the Eight of Swords. I stared at it for a while. The image is this person, blindfolded and tied up, surrounded by swords. It definitely doesn’t scream “good times,” huh?

So, I dug into my little guidebook and some stuff I found online. Here’s what I gathered:
- Feeling Trapped: This card often pops up when you’re feeling stuck or like you don’t have any options.
- Self-Imposed Limits: A lot of the time, it means the limitations are in your head, not real roadblocks.
- Fear of Change: It can also point to being afraid to move forward, even if you know you need to.
Figuring it Out
Based on all that, I realized the Eight of Swords is leaning more towards a “no,” at least in this situation. Or maybe more accurately, a “not yet.” It felt like the card was telling me I wasn’t in the right headspace to start this new project. Like, I was letting my own doubts and fears hold me back, instead of seeing the possibilities.
It made a lot sense.

So, I decided to hold off on the project for now. Instead, I’m going to spend some time working on those mental blocks. Maybe journaling a bit, talking to a friend – you know, getting my head straight. Once I feel more confident and less trapped by my own thoughts, I’ll revisit the question. Then, maybe I’ll pull a different card, hopefully a more positive one!
