Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about “spirit animals” lately, and the lynx kept popping up. I got curious, so I decided to do a little experiment. I’m gonna walk you through what I did and what happened, step by step.
Getting Started
First, I needed to, like, clear my head. I’m no expert, but I figured a quiet space was important. I turned off my phone (major sacrifice, I know), dimmed the lights, and just sat on my floor cushions. It was pretty awkward at first, just sitting there, but I focused on my breathing, trying to chill out.
The “Meditation” Thing
Then, I tried to visualize a lynx. This was tougher than I thought! I kept getting distracted by random thoughts – what to eat for dinner, that weird noise my car makes, you name it. I googled a picture of a lynx on my ipad just to get the visual part right, and keep going.

I closed my eyes again and tried to imagine walking through a snowy forest. It was pretty cheesy, but I went with it. After a while, I started to feel… calmer, I guess? Still no magical lynx appearance, though.
Journal Time
After about 20 minutes (which felt like forever), I decided to grab my notebook. I wrote down everything I was feeling – frustrated, a little silly, but also kind of peaceful. I also jotted down some things that came to mind about lynxes: solitary, observant, patient.
- solitary: I thought about I am.
- observant:Am i a person like this?
- patient:emmm… I think I need more practice.
The “A-Ha!” Moment (Sort Of)
I didn’t have any visions or anything, but writing stuff down actually helped. I started to see some connections between those lynx qualities and things I wanted to work on in my own life. Like, I could definitely be more patient. And maybe spending a little more time alone wouldn’t be so bad.
I think i need do something to change it, to start.

Wrapping Up
So, did I magically connect with my “lynx spirit animal”? Not in the way I expected, honestly. But did I learn something about myself and get a little bit of quiet time? Yeah, I did. It wasn’t some earth-shattering revelation, but it was a good reminder to slow down and pay attention – both to myself and the world around me. I guess that’s kind of what a spirit animal is supposed to do, right? I might even try this again sometime. Maybe with a different animal, just for fun.
