Okay, so yesterday I decided to mess around with some numbers, specifically 55 and 32. I’ve been trying to get a better handle on, like, basic arithmetic, you know? Just to keep my brain from turning into complete mush.
I started by just adding them. Nothing fancy, just 55 + 32. I grabbed a piece of scrap paper and a pen, because I’m old school like that.
- I lined them up, you know, the 5s and 3s, and the 2s.
- Then i added the numbers from the left, 5 plus 3 is 8.
- I added the numbers from the right, 5 plus 2 is 7.
Bam! 87. I felt pretty good about that, like I’d actually accomplished something.
Next,Subtraction!
Next, I figured I’d try subtracting. I put the bigger number on top, 55 – 32.
- Again, I lined up the numbers all nice and neat.
- I subtracted the numbers from the left, 5 minus 3 is 2.
- I subtracted the numbers from the right, 5 minus 2 is 3.
Got 23. Boom! Two for two. I was on a roll!
Let’s try Multiplication!
I thought about multiplying them, but honestly, that seemed like a bit much. 55 times 32? My brain started to hurt just thinking about it. I decided to skip that for now. Maybe another day when I’m feeling braver.
Simple Division…
Division seemed scary too, especially trying to divide 55 by 32. That’s gonna be a decimal, and I wasn’t in the mood for decimals yesterday. So, I skipped that too.
Really all that did, added, subtracted and done! That’s my record for 55 and 32.
