Okay, so yesterday I got this weird code, “6898”, and I was like, what the heck is this? It all started when I was trying to get into my friend’s Wi-Fi. He gave me this string of numbers, saying it was the key. I typed it in, and bam, nothing. No internet.
I called him up, pretty annoyed, and he just laughed. Turns out, it wasn’t a direct code, but some kind of puzzle. My friend, always with the games.
So, I stared at this “6898” for a while. I tried different things like adding the numbers, subtracting them, seeing if they corresponded to letters. Nothing made sense. I was almost about to give up, thinking my friend was just messing with me.

Then, I thought, maybe it’s not about the numbers themselves, but their position. I wrote them down, big and spaced out:
- 6
- 8
- 9
- 8
I started playing around with the positions. I numbered them from one to four, just to see what would happen. I noticed that the second number is the same as the fourth number, which is 8, and it made me very curious.
At first, I tried to swap the number. Then I found it did not work. I was thinking, maybe I need to change the format. I added the first and second number and got 14. Then I added the third and fourth number and got 17. But I still could not figure it out.
Finally, after a lot of trial and error, I realized that maybe there is some hidden rule for the number 8. I replaced 8 with 0, and I got a new code, “6090”. Then I tried to enter this new code into the Wi-Fi, and guess what? It worked!
I couldn’t believe it! That little number swap did the trick. It was a simple solution, but it took me a while to get there. I guess sometimes, the answer is right in front of you, and you just need to look at it from a different angle. I called my friend back, laughing this time, and told him I cracked his code. He was impressed, I think. Or maybe just relieved I finally stopped bugging him about the Wi-Fi. Haha.

So that is how I figured out the number code “6898” and turned it into “6090”.
