Okay, so today I decided to mess around with “hexagram 15,” which, if you’re not into the I Ching, is all about modesty. I’ve been feeling a little…scattered lately, so I figured, why not? Let’s see if some ancient wisdom can chill me out.
First, I grabbed my I Ching book – it’s this old, beat-up copy I’ve had forever. Then I found my three coins. I always use these specific ones, just feels right, you know? Superstitious, maybe, but whatever works.
The Throwing Process
- I held the coins in my hands, closed my eyes, and just tried to focus on…well, nothing, really. Just clearing my head.
- Then I shook them up good and tossed them onto the table.
- Heads is 3, tails is 2. I added up the numbers for that throw and jotted it down.
- I did this six times in total, building the hexagram from the bottom up. It’s kinda meditative, actually.
My throws were…interesting. I won’t bore you with every single number, but basically, I ended up with hexagram 15, unchanging. That means no changing lines, just straight-up modesty, front and center.

I opened my book on the hexagram 15, and the first word was “Modesty creates success.”
I closed my book. I guess that all means I should be keeping it low key.
So, yeah, that was my little I Ching experiment for the day. Did it magically solve all my problems? Nope. But did it give me a moment to pause and reflect? Definitely. And sometimes, that’s all you really need.
