Okay, so, “tarantula dream.” It sounds weird, right? But let me tell you about my little project.
I’ve always been fascinated by, well, weird stuff. And tarantulas? Definitely weird. But also kinda cool. I wanted to create something… different. Something that captured that creepy-crawly vibe, but also had a touch of, I don’t know, dreamy surrealism.
The Idea Hit Me
It started with a sketch. Just a quick doodle, really. A big, hairy tarantula, but with these swirling, almost psychedelic patterns on its back. I wanted it to look like it was emerging from a dream, or maybe causing a dream.

Getting My Hands Dirty
First I started the concept *’s really rough, but I think I want to make a 3D work of *, I first drew a rough draft, and then drew each part on different layers, such as eyes, hairs, legs, etc.
- Research: I spent, like, hours just looking at pictures of tarantulas. Different species, different colors, different poses. Gotta get the anatomy at least somewhat right, you know?
- Color Palette: I wanted something that felt both natural and…off. Lots of deep blues and purples, with pops of vibrant orange and green. Think “toxic jungle” meets “acid trip.”
Then I start to build the 3D model.I chose a software that I’m kinda familiar with. This part took forever. Seriously, modeling all those legs and making them look somewhat realistic? Painful.
I had to redo the legs, like, five times. And the fangs? Don’t even get me started on the fangs. But, slowly, it started to take shape. A big, blocky, digital spider.

Making it Pretty (and Creepy)
Texturing was where the real fun began. I wanted that “dreamy” look, so I experimented with all sorts of weird, swirling patterns.
Then add the details and render it to look real, adding the tiny hairs, and the weird, glassy eyes. It was starting to look genuinely unsettling.
Lighting was crucial. I wanted it to look like it was emerging from darkness, so I used a lot of dramatic shadows and highlights.
The Final Result
Finally, I added a simple, dark background, just to make the tarantula really pop. I think it came out… pretty good. Not perfect, maybe, but definitely weird. Which was the whole point, right?

It’s the kind of thing you might see in a dream, or maybe a nightmare. But hey, that’s art, right? It’s supposed to make you feel something. Even if that something is a slight urge to check under your bed for giant spiders.
