Okay, so I was messing around with some design ideas today, and I got really into playing with basic shapes. I wanted to see if I could make something cool using just a diamond, a circle, and a cross. Sounds simple, right? It’s actually pretty fun to see what you can come up with.
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil – nothing fancy. I started by drawing a diamond. I made it kind of long and pointy, not a perfect square-ish one. Then, I drew a circle overlapping the bottom point of the diamond. I erased the little bit of the circle that was inside the diamond, so it looked like the circle was sitting right on the tip.
Next, I added the cross.I put the cross in the circle, and I played around with the position of the cross. It ended up,I put the cross in the central of the circle, make it looks nice.

Experimenting with Arrangements
- Stacking: I tried putting the diamond on top, then the circle, then the cross, all lined up vertically. It looked kind of like a weird totem pole, which was kind of neat.
- Overlapping: That’s what I did initially, with the shapes all overlapping each other. This felt the most balanced.
- size: I made the big circle and small circle, and find the big one looks better.
I kept sketching and trying different things. I shaded in some parts, erased others, and just generally doodled until I had a few designs that I liked. It’s amazing how much you can do with just three simple shapes.!
The whole process was really relaxing, just letting my hand move and seeing what happened. I might try using some color next time, or maybe even turn one of the designs into a digital drawing. Who knows! Anyway, if you’re looking for a simple creative exercise, give this a try. It’s a fun way to spend an hour or two.
