Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with creating some cool, kinda creepy images, and I figured, why not try making some “demons in a dream” type stuff? I’ve been seeing these AI art generators popping up everywhere, so I dove in.
First, I gathered some inspiration. I just did a quick search for “dream demons” and “surreal art” to get a feel for the vibe I wanted. Lots of dark shadows, twisted figures, and weird, unsettling landscapes. You know, the usual nightmare fuel.
The Experiment Begins
Next, I picked an AI art tool. I’m not gonna name names, ’cause I’m not trying to shill for anyone, but there are tons of them out there. Some are free, some you gotta pay for. I went with a free one to start, just to test the waters.

- I started with a simple prompt: “demon in a dream.” Pretty basic, right? The results were… interesting. Some were just blobs of color, others were kinda goofy-looking. Definitely not the terrifying, otherworldly creatures I was hoping for.
- So, I refined my prompt. I added more descriptive words, like “twisted,” “shadowy,” “surreal,” “nightmare,” and “menacing.” This helped a lot! The images started to look more like what I had in mind.
- I added the word: “dark fantasy”. The images looked better.
- I also played around with the settings. Most of these tools have sliders and options for things like “style,” “quality,” and “iterations.” I tweaked these until I started getting results I liked. It was a lot of trial and error, honestly.
Getting Closer to the Nightmare
After a bunch of tries, I finally started to get some images that were actually pretty cool. They had that dark, dreamlike quality I was going for, with figures that were distorted and unsettling. Still not perfect, but definitely a step up from the blobs of color!
One thing I learned is that the wording of your prompt makes a HUGE difference. Like, using “demon lurking in a dreamscape” gave me way different results than “demon attacking in a dream.” It’s all about experimenting and finding the right combination of words.
I also discovered that some tools let you upload a “seed image” to influence the AI. So, I grabbed a picture of a creepy, twisted tree I found online and used that as a starting point. This actually worked really well! The AI incorporated the tree’s shape and texture into the demon images, making them even more unique.
The Final(ish) Product
I’m still messing around with it, but I’ve already created some pretty wild stuff. It’s kinda addictive, seeing what the AI comes up with. It’s like collaborating with a weird, unpredictable machine. You give it some guidance, and it spits out something totally unexpected.
It’s definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon if you’re into this kind of thing. And who knows, maybe I’ll even use some of these images in a future project. Or maybe they’ll just haunt my dreams. Either way, it was a worthwhile experiment!
