Alright, so check this out, I wanna share something I’ve been messing with lately. It’s all about trying to visualize my thoughts, kinda like “dreaming with the ocean,” as I’ve been calling it.
It all started when I was feeling totally swamped. Work was crazy, personal life was a mess, you know the drill. I needed an escape, something to clear my head.
So, I started doing some doodling. Just random shapes at first, nothing fancy. Then, I don’t know why, I started drawing waves. Big, swooshing waves. I kept at it, filling up pages with these watery shapes.

Then I thought, what if I try to turn this into something more? I installed this free 3D software, Blender, I think it’s called. Messed around with some tutorials online, just trying to figure out the basics.
At first, it was super frustrating. I couldn’t even make a simple cube look right! But I kept at it, slowly learning how to shape things, how to add textures, how to make things move.
I started trying to create an ocean scene, something calm and peaceful. Just a flat plane with a blue texture, some basic wave animation. Looked terrible, honestly.
So I started digging deeper. Found some more tutorials, learned about shaders, about lighting, about how to make water look… well, like water!
Hours and hours later, after banging my head against the keyboard, I started to get somewhere. The water started to look a bit more realistic. I added some foam, some reflections, some subtle color variations.
Then I started thinking about what else was needed. Some clouds, maybe? A distant horizon? I threw some simple shapes in there, just to give it some context.
Here’s the thing: I wasn’t trying to create a perfect, photorealistic ocean. I was trying to capture a feeling, that sense of calm and vastness that the ocean gives me.
I kept tweaking things, adjusting the lighting, changing the wave patterns, until I felt like I was getting close. It still wasn’t perfect, but it was… something.
I rendered out a short animation, like a 10-second loop. Watched it over and over again. Something was still bugging me. It needed something more.
So I did a voiceover, reading a short poem that I wrote, about feeling lost and then finding peace in the ocean’s vastness. It’s kinda cheesy, but it fit. I layed the voiceover on the video, and uploaded it to youtube.

I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece, but I made something. I started with nothing but a need to unwind, and ended up with a 3D animation and a poem. It was a fun journey.
- Started with doodles.
- Installed Blender.
- Watched Tutorials
- Create simple ocean scene
- Added voiceover
And that’s the story of how I tried to “dream with the ocean.” Maybe you should give it a shot sometime. Find something that helps you escape, and just mess around with it. You never know what you might create.
More experimenting
I’m not stopping with just the ocean. I’m thinking about trying to visualize other things that are in my head. Maybe a forest, maybe a city, maybe just abstract shapes and colors. Who knows? The point is to keep experimenting, to keep learning, and to keep creating.
I am thinking of creating a tool for other people to use my code.
