Okay, so yesterday was… interesting. I was trying to connect with my power animal, right? I’ve been reading up on shamanism and all that jazz, and felt like I needed some guidance. Figured, why not give it a shot?
First, I decided on the mountain lion. I mean, they’re solitary, powerful, and super adaptable. That seemed like qualities I could use more of in my life. So, I started by researching them. Not just Wikipedia stuff, but more like… spiritual interpretations, symbolism, you know?
Then, I found a guided meditation online specifically for connecting with animal spirits. I put on my headphones, dimmed the lights, and sat down in a comfortable position. The meditation involved visualizing a journey through a forest, eventually meeting the mountain lion.

Honestly? The first attempt was kinda lame. I kept getting distracted by the neighbor’s dog barking and my own to-do list. But I didn’t give up. I tried again later in the afternoon.
This time, I focused on my breathing and tried to really immerse myself in the visualization. I imagined the scent of pine needles, the feel of cool earth under my bare feet (even though I was sitting on my couch, haha), and the sounds of the forest. It helped a lot.
Eventually, in my mind’s eye, I saw it – a huge mountain lion, just standing there, watching me. It was intimidating, but also…calming? I asked it (in my head, obviously) if it was my power animal. It didn’t respond verbally, but I got a sense of… recognition. Like, “Yeah, I’ve been waiting for you.”
I spent some time just “being” with the mountain lion in my visualization. It felt powerful, grounding. I asked for guidance on a specific problem I’ve been dealing with at work. Again, no words, but I received a strong feeling of… confidence. Like, “You’ve got this. Trust your instincts.”
After the meditation, I felt surprisingly energized. I wrote down everything I experienced in my journal. I think the key was really letting go of expectations and just being open to the experience.

Now, I’m not saying I suddenly have superhuman mountain lion powers or anything. But the whole experience did give me a renewed sense of confidence and clarity about my work situation. I’m going to keep practicing the meditation and see where it leads. Who knows, maybe I’ll start climbing trees and stalking prey next… just kidding! (Mostly.)
Things I learned:
- Setting the mood really matters.
- Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work perfectly the first time.
- Trust your intuition, even if it seems a little out there.
Will I continue? Absolutely. This might be my new weird hobby. Next up: maybe trying to connect with a hummingbird. I hear they’re good for bringing joy and lightness into your life.
