Alright, so I wanted to share a bit about my process today looking into the Six of Pentacles specifically for feelings. I don’t always assign feeling meanings to every card, sometimes they’re more about actions or situations, but this one kept popping up in readings where the question was definitely about emotions.
So, I sat down this morning, specifically pulled the Six of Pentacles from my deck. Just laid it out in front of me. My first gut reaction, honestly? Was about resources, like usual. You know, the rich guy giving coins to the poor folks. It felt very transactional, not very… feely?
I spent some time just looking at the picture. In my Rider-Waite deck, you got the merchant standing there, holding the scales, doling out coins. Then you have the two figures kneeling. That’s the key dynamic I started focusing on. It’s not just about money changing hands.

Digging into the Vibe
I started thinking about the feeling of being the merchant. What’s going on inside him? Maybe he feels generous, sure. That’s a feeling. Feeling benevolent, capable, stable enough to share. That sense of having enough, that security, that allows you to give. That’s a definite emotional state.
Then I flipped it. What about the guys receiving the coins? How do they feel?
- Maybe grateful? That’s an obvious one. Feeling supported, looked after.
- Maybe there’s a feeling of relief? Like, “Phew, someone’s helping out.”
- But maybe also… feeling dependent? Or feeling less-than? That power imbalance is right there in the picture. You could feel humbled, but maybe also a bit resentful or embarrassed needing help.
So, it wasn’t just one simple feeling. It felt layered.
Bringing it Together
The scales the merchant holds caught my eye next. Balance. Okay, so maybe the feeling is about fairness or feeling like things are in equilibrium. A sense of give and take working out. Feeling like you’re getting what you deserve, or feeling you’re able to provide what’s needed in a balanced way.
But the imbalance is still there visually. The merchant is standing, the others are kneeling. So, the feeling could also be about awareness of hierarchy or status within a relationship, even if there’s generosity involved. Feeling like you’re the one in charge, or feeling like you’re reliant on someone else’s goodwill.

So, after just sitting with it, looking at it, trying to put myself in the shoes of each person, I landed here: the Six of Pentacles as feelings isn’t straightforward. It speaks to feelings of:
- Generosity / Feeling charitable
- Gratitude / Feeling supported
- Security / Stability (enough to give or receive reliably)
- Fairness / Balance (things feel equitable)
- Dependence / Feeling needy
- Superiority / Condescension (less often, but possible)
- Relief
It really depends on the context of the reading and the surrounding cards, and maybe which figure resonates more with the person asking. It’s about the emotional dynamic of giving and receiving, the feeling of balance or imbalance in that exchange. It’s less about passionate highs or lows, more about that feeling of where you stand in the flow of support and resources, whether material or emotional. Felt like I got a much better handle on it after just sitting and looking, letting the image speak rather than just reciting keywords.
