Okay, so today I messed around with “59 44.” Sounds random, I know, but it’s all about screen resolution stuff. I’ve been trying to get this old game to run properly, and it’s been a pain.
First, I booted up the game. No surprise, it looked terrible. All stretched and blurry. Like looking through a smeared window.
Digging into Settings
So, I jumped into the game’s settings. Nothing. Absolutely nothing useful there. Just the usual sound and controls options.

Next, I right-clicked on the game’s shortcut and went to “Properties.” I checked out the “Compatibility” tab. I’ve used this before for older programs.
- I tried running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP, Windows 7, even Windows 98! No luck.
- I checked the box for “Reduced color mode.” Nope.
- I even ticked the “Run in 640×480 screen resolution” option. Still awful.
Time for Some Manual Tweaks
Then, I remembered some forum posts talking about editing configuration files. I found the game’s folder and started poking around.
I located a file named “*” (sometimes it might be “*” or something similar). I opened it up with Notepad.
Inside, I spotted a couple of lines that looked promising: “ScreenWidth=xxxx” and “ScreenHeight=yyyy”. I changed that “xxxx” to “59” and “yyyy” to “44”.
I save it and run the game again.

It works!No more blurry.
It’s not perfect, some of modern games can be automatically adapted, but it’s way better than before! I can actually play the game without my eyes bleeding.
So, that’s my little adventure with “59 44.” Sometimes, you just gotta get your hands dirty and mess with those config files.
