Okay, so today I tried to mess around with something called “17 hexagram.” I’d heard about it, I didn’t really know how to get started, so first I did was find out more about it.
I started searching for what a hexagram image looks like, then looked for some basic tutorials. I Found out there’s a connection with I Ching, and I realized, “Oh, this might be more complicated than I thought!”
My First Steps
I decided to start really simple. I wanted to just visually create something, so i got some sticks.

- Gather materials: I found 6 sticks from outside.
- First Throw:I tossed all the sticks, and I saw some crossed and some are not. I note down.
- Repeat 5 more times:I repeated tossing sticks 5 more times, and noted down.
Getting Stuck (and Unstuck)
So, I had this record, but then… I was stuck. I tried to look up what it all meant, it’s about Yin and Yang? Solid lines, broken lines? It got confusing, fast. There’s a lot of ancient text, and honestly, my brain started to hurt.
I realized I needed a more practical guide. Like, “If you get this line, do this.” So, I searched around for interpretations of the hexagram.
Making Sense of It (Sort Of)
Finally, I found a simple lookup table. With my sticks tossed result, I could find my hexagram, I matched my lines up with the chart, and boom – I had a hexagram number. Number 17, in my case! Then, I started to read about what number 17 might symbolize, and I do some action for it.
I’m still a total beginner, but I feel like I actually did something. It’s like a little puzzle, and even if I don’t fully understand the deeper meaning, it was a fun experiment. Might try it again tomorrow and see if I get a different result!
