Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “dream dictionary” idea for a while, and today I decided to focus on “horse.” It’s a pretty common dream symbol, right? So I figured, let’s see what I can dig up and how it applies to my own, you know, brain stuff.
First, I just did a basic search. I wanted to get the lay of the land, see what the usual interpretations are. I typed in “dream dictionary horse” into the search bar and started reading.
What is “usual” meaning.
- Power: Seems obvious. Horses are strong.
- Freedom: Yep, wild horses running free, got it.
- Energy: Makes sense, they’re, like, really energetic animals.
- Nobility: I guess? Like knights and stuff.
So, that’s the baseline. But that’s just generic, textbook stuff. I wanted to see how this played out in my head.

Next, I started thinking back to any recent dreams I’ve had involving horses. I keep a dream journal (don’t judge!), so I flipped through it. Nothing super recent, but I did find one from a couple of weeks ago.
In the dream, I was trying to ride a horse, but it kept throwing me off. It wasn’t a wild, bucking bronco or anything, it just…didn’t want me on its back. It was kind of frustrating, honestly.
Now, connecting this to the “dictionary” meanings… it’s interesting. Maybe the “power” thing is relevant. Like, I’m feeling a lack of control in some area of my life? Or the “freedom” aspect – maybe I feel restricted somehow, unable to move forward. The horse not letting me ride it could symbolize that blockage.
Try to Think about the “Color”.
I read somewhere that the color of the horse matters too. Mine was brown, a pretty ordinary, dark brown. Looking that up, some sources said brown horses represent stability and grounding. Which, ironically, is the opposite of what I was feeling in the dream! So maybe it’s about a lack of stability? Or a desire for it?
Then I took some time for self-reflection. What is going on the my life?:
- I’ve been feeling overwhelmed at work lately.
- There are some decision I put off.
Then, I tried to apply the dream to see if it matches with my real life.
So, putting it all together… this dream horse, for me, seems to be about feeling overwhelmed and out of control, maybe specifically in my work life. The fact that I couldn’t stay on the horse, and that it was a “stable” brown color, feels like it’s highlighting my current lack of stability and my struggle to regain control. It’s like my subconscious is yelling, “Hey! Pay attention! You’re feeling off-balance!”
It’s not a perfect science, obviously. But it’s kind of cool to see how these symbols can be a jumping-off point for understanding what’s going on in my own head. It’s like my brain is sending me coded messages, and this “dream dictionary” thing is a way to try and decode them. I’m definitely going to keep playing around with this. Maybe next time I’ll tackle… I don’t know… squirrels. Those things are always popping up in my dreams.
