Okay, so, “Demons in Dreams.” Sounds kinda spooky, right? Well, it all started with this weird dream I kept having. Not exactly the same dream every time, but the same…feeling. Like something was chasing me, but I couldn’t see it. Super unsettling.
So, I decided I was going to try and, I don’t know, “control” my dreams. I’d heard of lucid dreaming, where you’re aware you’re dreaming, and I figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, if I’m gonna be freaked out in my sleep, I might as well try to do something about it, right?
First, I started keeping a dream journal. Every morning, soon as I woke up, I grabbed this little notebook I kept by my bed and scribbled down everything I could remember. Didn’t matter if it was just a color, a smell, or a whole scene, I wrote it ALL down. This was kind of a pain at first, especially when I was super groggy, but it got easier.

Then, I started doing these things called “reality checks” during the day. Basically, you pick something totally normal, like looking at your hands, and you ask yourself, “Am I dreaming?” Sounds silly, I know, but the idea is that if you do it enough in your waking life, you’ll start doing it in your dreams too. And then, bam, you realize you’re dreaming.
- I tried looking at my hands a lot.
- push my fingers, see if can though my other hand.
- Also pinching my nose and trying to breathe through it.
It took a few weeks. I mean, WEEKS. I was starting to think this whole lucid dreaming thing was a bunch of baloney. Lots of scribbling in my journal, lots of looking at my hands like a weirdo, and still, same old chase dreams.
But then…it happened. I was in that familiar dream-scape, that feeling of dread creeping in, and suddenly, I looked at my hands. They looked… blurry. Fuzzy around the edges. And I thought, “Wait a minute… am I dreaming?”
The Breakthrough
It was like a switch flipped. The dream didn’t disappear, but I knew it wasn’t real. That shadowy thing, that “demon,” was still there, but I wasn’t scared anymore. I actually turned around, faced it, and…it just kind of…dissolved. Poof. Gone.
I didn’t become some dream superhero or anything. But that feeling of being chased, that fear, it was way less intense. And over time, with more practice, those dreams pretty much stopped altogether. Now, I mostly have normal, boring dreams, which is a HUGE improvement.

So, yeah, that’s my “Demons in Dreams” story. It wasn’t easy, and it took some serious dedication, but it was definitely worth it. If you’re dealing with weird dreams, maybe give this whole lucid dreaming thing a try. Just be prepared to write a lot and look at your hands a bunch!
