So, the other day I was messing around with, you know, just random stuff, and I stumbled upon this thing called the “42 hexagram.” I’d heard about hexagrams before, like in the I Ching, but I never really dug into it.
First, I gotta figure out what this even is. I did a quick search – nothing fancy, just the usual online stuff. Turns out, the 42nd hexagram in the I Ching is called “Yi,” and it generally means something like “increase” or “benefit.” Okay, that’s a start.
Next, I wanted to see what it looked like. Back to searching, and I found some images. It’s basically six lines, some solid, some broken. This one has a broken line on the bottom, then three solid lines, another broken line, and a solid line on top. It’s kinda like a little visual code.

Digging Deeper (but not too deep)
I’m no expert, but I wanted to, you know, try to understand it a little better. I found a few websites talking about the meaning. They were talking about things like “giving to others,” “being selfless,” and “growth through helping.” Sounds pretty positive, right?
Then I decided to try it my own way. Here is what I did:
- Thinking about it:I spent a few minutes just thinking about what “increase” could mean in my own life. Maybe it’s about learning something new, or helping someone out, or just, like, being a better person.
- Try it:Then look at it, I found a desk and pen, and tried to draw it. It is not difficult.
- Little experiment: I decided to do one small thing that felt like it fit the “increase” vibe. I helped my neighbor carry some groceries. Small, I know, but it felt… right.
Honestly, I don’t know if I “get it” completely. It’s not like I suddenly had some big revelation. But it was kinda cool to take this ancient symbol and try to connect it to my everyday life, even in a super simple way. Maybe I’ll keep thinking about it, maybe I won’t. But it was a fun little exploration, and who knows, maybe it planted a little seed of something good.
