Okay, so today I wanted to dive into something a little different – the spiritual meaning of lobsters. I’ve always been fascinated by animal symbolism, and lately, the lobster has been popping up in my life, so I figured, why not explore it?
First, I grabbed my journal and jotted down some initial thoughts. What did I already associate with lobsters? Well, they’re sea creatures, they have that hard shell, and they, you know, molt – shed their old shells to grow. That felt significant, so I underlined it.
My Research Journey
Then, I hopped online. I didn’t want anything too academic, just some general ideas. I typed “spiritual meaning of lobster” into the search bar and started browsing.

I found lots of stuff about transformation and protection. Because of that molting thing, lobsters are often seen as symbols of letting go of the old to make way for the new. Makes sense, right? And that hard shell? It’s all about protecting yourself, setting boundaries, that kind of thing.
I went to several webs and skimmed articles and blog posts. I even watched a short video about animal totems where the speaker talked about lobsters. I was just soaking it all in, letting the information wash over me.
Making it Personal
After my little research binge, I closed my laptop and went back to my journal. Now it was time to get personal. How did all this lobster stuff relate to my life?
- I thought about some recent challenges I’d been facing.
- Was I holding onto something I needed to let go of?
- Was I protecting myself enough, or was I letting others walk all over me?
I spent a good hour just writing, free-associating, and connecting the dots. It was kind of messy, but that’s okay. The point wasn’t to have all the answers, but to explore the questions.
Finally,I had a kind of “aha!” moment about a project. I had some new and clear insights about it.

So, that was my little lobster journey! It’s still a work in progress, but it definitely gave me some food for thought. I’m going to keep my eyes open for more lobster symbolism in my life and see where it leads me. Maybe you should try it sometime!
