Yesterday, I got this idea stuck in my head – I wanted to make a dream catcher. Not just any dream catcher, but one that really felt like me. So, I hopped online, did some quick searching, and got a general idea of what I needed.
First things first, I needed supplies. I gathered some stuff I had lying around the house:
- An old embroidery hoop (the wooden kind)
- Some colorful yarn I’d been saving for a rainy day
- A bunch of beads and feathers I’d collected over the years
- Scissors and some glue (just in case)
Getting Started
I started by wrapping the embroidery hoop with the yarn. I chose a nice, deep blue color because it reminded me of the night sky. It took a while, and honestly, my fingers got a little sore, but I kept going until the whole hoop was covered. I made sure to wrap it tightly so the yarn wouldn’t slip.

Next up was the web. This was the tricky part! I found a simple pattern online and tried to follow it. I tied the yarn to the hoop and started weaving it across, creating a star-like design in the center. It wasn’t perfect, and I definitely messed up a few times, but I just kept going, untangling and re-tying until it looked somewhat decent.
Once the web was done, I added the beads. I threaded them onto the yarn at different points, making sure they were spaced out nicely. I used different colors and sizes to make it look more interesting. I thought of them as the stars, and the web is the night that catching bad dreams.
Finishing Touches
Finally, I attached the feathers to the bottom of the hoop. I tied them on with some extra yarn, making sure they hung down at different lengths. I chose feathers in different shades of blue and white, to match the yarn and * I want they look like the wind.
And that was it! My very own, handmade dream catcher. It might not be perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. I hung it above my bed, hoping it’ll catch all my bad dreams and leave me with only the good ones. It was a fun little project, and it felt good to create something with my own hands. Plus, it looks pretty cool hanging in my room!
