Getting Started (and Getting Confused)
First things first, I needed to actually, you know, get 911 Astrothem. I’m not going to lie; It took some serious internet skills. And finally after I download that, I extracted all the files to a new folder on my desktop. I like to keep things tidy, even if my digital life is often a chaotic mess.
The First Run (aka “What Did I Just Do?”)
I bravely double-clicked the main executable file, praying to whatever digital gods might exist that I wouldn’t brick my computer. A window popped up, full of text and options, I tried to read everything carefully, and then started to use it.
Experimentation (and a Lot of Errors)
- First, I tried inputting some basic data that I prepared. Just some simple stuff to see what would happen. The result? A lot of numbers.
- Next, I decided to crank things up a notch. More data, more complex. This time, I got… an error message. Awesome.
- I spent the next hour (or maybe two, who’s counting?) tweaking settings, changing inputs, and basically poking around like a curious monkey. I Googled a few error messages. And reread the text appeared when I first use it.
- Finally,I think I found the rules of this, I reinput the correct data.
Finally Success!
Then after so many errors, it is done! I stared at the screen, I print it to PDF, and I checked the data again and again, It’s right. I saved it.
So, that’s my 911 Astrothem adventure. It’s not exactly a glamorous tale, but it’s real. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most rewarding things are the ones that make you want to pull your hair out at first.
