Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff online about the moon and periods, like, are they connected? Is it all just a myth? I got curious and decided to track my own cycle and the moon phases for a few months to see what’s up.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a regular period tracking app. There are tons of them out there, you know, the ones where you just tap in when your period starts and ends. I picked one that looked simple enough.
Then, I found a moon phase calendar online. I didn’t want anything fancy, just something that clearly showed the new moon, full moon, and all the phases in between. I bookmarked it on my phone so I could easily check it.

The Tracking Process
For about three or four months, every day, I opened both the period tracker and the moon calendar. I made a note of where I was in my cycle (period, pre-period, ovulation-ish, whatever felt right) and what the moon was doing. I just jotted it all down in a little notebook I kept by my bed.
- Month 1: My period started a few days after the full moon. Nothing too crazy.
- Month 2: This time, it came almost exactly on the new moon. Okay, a little more interesting.
- Month 3: Back to being closer to the full moon again. Hmm.
- Month 4: The cycle seem began around the new moon.
What I Found
Honestly, it was kind of all over the place! It seemed like it should began around the full moon or new moon, but nothing solid with *, for me, personally, it didn’t seem like there was any super strong connection. I know some people swear their periods sync up with the moon, but mine definitely didn’*’s can be different from other people.
It was still a cool little experiment, though! It made me way more aware of my own cycle and how I felt at different times of the month. And it got me thinking about how we’re all connected to nature in different ways, even if it’s not always obvious.
