Okay, so I wanted to mess around with creating a hexagram, specifically hexagram 4. Here’s how I went about it, step by step.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. I could have done this digitally, but I like the feel of actual drawing sometimes. It helps me think, you know?
The Basic Structure
I started by drawing two trigrams, one on top of the other. That’s what makes a hexagram, right? Two of those three-lined things stacked up.

- For hexagram 4, the top trigram is Gen (Mountain). So I draw a broken line ,then a broken line, and a solid line at the top.
- The bottom trigram is Kan (Water). So I did the opposite: A solid line in middle, surrounded by two broken lines.
Putting it Together
I placed Gen above * looks like a mountain over a dark, foggy, or even dangerous river at the bottom.
Checking My Work
I double-checked my work against, I’m not * to make sure I made a broken line or solid line right.
Final Touches
Once I was happy with it, and done! My very own, hand-drawn hexagram 4.
It’s a simple process. The drawing itself isn’t * you can try it!
