Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this whole “I Ching” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a trip. Today, I decided to focus on Hexagram 8, which is all about, like, unity and holding together. Here’s how it went down:
First, I gotta set the mood, right? I cleared off my desk – which, honestly, was a bigger task than the divination itself. Papers everywhere, coffee mugs… a total disaster zone. But I got it sorted, lit a little incense (lavender, because why not?), and put on some chill tunes.
Then came the coin tossing. I use these old Chinese coins I found at a flea market. Super cool, but also kinda slippery. I tossed them six times, marking down the heads and tails. It’s supposed to represent the lines of the hexagram, solid for yang, broken for yin. Sounds complicated, but it’s basically just flipping coins and paying attention.

The Process
- Toss 1: Heads, heads, tails. That’s a broken line.
- Toss 2: Tails, tails, tails. Another broken line.
- Toss 3: Heads, heads, tails. Broken again!
- Toss 4: Heads, heads, heads. Finally, a solid line!
- Toss 5: Tails, tails, tails. Back to broken.
- Toss 6: Heads,heads,tails. Broken.
So, I ended up with a hexagram that looks like this, bottom to top: broken, broken, broken, solid, broken, broken. That’s Hexagram 8, “Bi” in Chinese, I think. It’s supposed to represent water over the earth – holding together, seeking union, all that good stuff.
Next, I grabbed my well-worn copy of the I Ching book. Seriously, this thing is falling apart, held together with tape and good intentions. I looked up Hexagram 8 and started reading. It talks about finding your group, being sincere, and checking in with yourself before joining something bigger. Makes sense, right?
I spent some time just, you know, pondering. Thinking about my own life, my connections, where I fit in. It’s surprisingly… relaxing. It’s not about predicting the future, at least not for me. It’s more about getting some perspective, taking a moment to reflect.
The I Ching suggested perseverance and being a good bean in any given situation. I guess I am just thinking about how important it is to surround yourself with folks you trust, especially at work.
So yeah, that was my Hexagram 8 experience. Pretty chill, pretty insightful. I’m not saying I’m suddenly a master diviner or anything, but it’s a cool way to slow down and connect with… well, something. Maybe it’s the universe, maybe it’s just my own subconscious. Either way, I’m digging it.
