Today I gonna talk about how I made a giraffe, but not a real one, you know. It’s a symbol, a picture, whatever you call it. I was fooling around with my computer, trying different stuff, and then it hit me – why not try to make something cool with just text?
So, I started with a blank page. I was thinking, what’s the easiest way to draw something recognizable? I’m no artist, mind you. Then I remembered those ASCII art things people used to do, drawing pictures with letters and symbols. That’s when I thought, let’s give it a shot. A giraffe seemed like a fun challenge, with its long neck and all.
First, I tried to outline the giraffe. I used a bunch of forward slashes and backslashes to make the neck and legs. It looked pretty wonky at first, I gotta admit. But I kept at it, adding more symbols, tweaking things here and there.

- I used a bunch of parentheses for the body, trying to get that round shape.
- The head was tricky, but I managed to make something that kinda looked like a giraffe’s head with some dashes and underscores.
- For the spots, I just sprinkled some periods and commas all over.
After a while, it started to look like something. I mean, you could tell it was supposed to be a giraffe, at least I hope so. I showed it to my friend, and they were like, “Hey, that’s pretty neat!” That gave me a little confidence boost.
I kept messing with it, trying different symbols, moving things around. It was like solving a puzzle, you know? Finally, after a good amount of time, I had something I was happy with. It wasn’t perfect, but it was my symbol giraffe, and I made it from scratch.
My Own Giraffe
It was a fun little project. I learned that you can make something cool out of pretty much anything, even just text. And it’s kinda satisfying to create something from nothing, even if it’s just a simple symbol giraffe. Maybe next time I’ll try a zebra or something. Who knows?
