Today, I wanted to mess around with hexagrams, specifically hexagram 7. I wasn’t even sure where to start, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. Old school, I know. I doodled a bit, trying to visualize what a hexagram even looks like. It’s basically six lines stacked on top of each other, some broken, some solid. But hexagram 7, what’s special about it?
So, I started looking it up. Turns out, hexagram 7 is called “The Army” or “The Troops.” It’s got a solid line at the bottom, then five broken lines above it. This got me thinking, what does it mean?

- I spent some time reading about it, just random stuff I found. Apparently, it’s about leadership, discipline, and organization. Makes sense, since it’s called “The Army.”
- I tried to relate it to my own life. When have I been a part of something like an army? When have I needed discipline and organization to get through something tough?
- It was pretty interesting to see how this ancient symbol could still resonate today.
Next, I decided to meditate on it. I closed my eyes, pictured the hexagram in my mind, and just let my thoughts wander. It wasn’t some profound spiritual experience, but it was calming.
After that, I felt like doing something creative. I took out my colored pencils and drew a big version of hexagram 7. I added some colors, some designs around it, just going with the flow.
What did I learn?
Well, I realized that even something as simple as a hexagram can be a starting point for a whole journey of exploration. You can research it, reflect on it, meditate on it, and even make art about it. It’s all about being open to the process and seeing where it takes you.
This little experiment with hexagram 7 reminded me that there’s so much out there to discover, even in the simplest of things. You just gotta be willing to dive in and get your hands dirty.
It was a good day. I learned something new, I created something, and I had fun doing it. What more could you ask for?
