Alright, today I wanna talk about something a bit different, something I got into called “Hexagram 37,” which is from this old Chinese thing, the I Ching. I’m no expert, just a regular guy who likes to mess around with new stuff, so bear with me.
So, I heard about this I Ching thing and thought, “Why not?” I dug around and found this hexagram stuff. Hexagram 37, they call it “Chia Jen” or “The Family.” Sounds kinda serious, huh?
First off, I tried to understand what the heck a hexagram even is. Turns out, it’s like a symbol made of six lines, stacked on top of each other. Some lines are solid, some are broken. This one, number 37, has a bunch of them arranged in a specific way.

I started by just looking at the darn thing. Above, it’s got something called “Sun” which is supposed to be “Gentle” or “Wind.” Below it, there’s “Li,” which stands for “Clinging.” Don’t ask me what that means, I’m still figuring it out myself. It’s like the top part is all calm and breezy, and the bottom is more intense and maybe fiery.
Then, I read up on what this whole “Family” thing is about. This hexagram, apparently, is all about relationships, especially within a family. It made me think, this wasn’t just some random symbol.
Next, I dove into some translations. There was this old one, and one mentioned James Legge. This guy seemed to know his stuff. Anyway, these translations gave me some different perspectives on what each part of the hexagram could mean. It started to look like it was about how people in a family interact with each other, the roles they play, and how they should behave.
- I found out that it talks about the relationship between father and son, which is supposed to be about love.
- Then there’s the husband and wife thing. That’s another big part of it.
So, I spent a few days just pondering this thing, trying to connect it to my own life. How do I fit into my family? How do my relationships work? It’s kinda deep stuff when you really get into it. It made me think about my role and relationships. I had a long talk with my wife and my son.
Honestly, I’m still learning about this Hexagram 37 thing. It’s not something you figure out overnight. But it’s been a cool little journey, exploring these ancient ideas and seeing how they might apply to my life today. And I realized that I should spend more time with my family and show more love to them.

It made me realized that the old wisdom sometimes is really useful. This hexagram gave me a new way to think. I decided to keep this hexagram in mind in the following days.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure with Hexagram 37. Hope it wasn’t too boring. Maybe I’ll write more about this stuff later if I learn something new. Gotta keep things interesting, right?
