Okay, so, I got into this thing called “Hexagram 43,” or “Guai,” as some folks call it. It’s from this old Chinese book, the I-Ching, which is basically a guide to, well, everything.
I started by just reading up on what Hexagram 43 is all about. Turns out, it’s got a few names, like “Decision,” “Resoluteness,” and even “Breakthrough.” Found some pictures of the old character for it, and it looks like a hand holding some kind of, I don’t know, important-looking thing.
Then I dug a bit deeper. It seems like this hexagram is a big deal when you’re looking at making progress. Like, you’ve been stuck, and now you’re finally busting through. I found some interpretations talking about how it relates to other hexagrams, like number 28 and 40. Apparently, if you get 43 and it changes to those, it means different things. Don’t ask me, it’s complicated.

So, I decided to actually try using it. There’s this whole thing about throwing coins or using yarrow stalks to get a hexagram. I went with the coins, ’cause it seemed easier. I flipped them six times, writing down the results like the instructions said. And, what do you know, I ended up with Hexagram 43! And because of the way the lines came out, it was changing into some other ones, too. I made the following records in order:
- The first time was tails.
- The second time was tails.
- The third time was tails.
- The forth time was heads.
- The fifth time was heads.
- The sixth time was heads.
Next, I tried to figure out what it all meant. It wasn’t easy, I’ll tell you that. Lots of different interpretations out there. But the main idea I got was that it’s about taking action, being clear about what you want, and not being afraid to make a move. The fact that it was changing to other hexagrams added another layer of, well, confusion, to be honest.
In the end, I’m still not sure I totally get it. But I did feel like it gave me a push to think about some things I’ve been putting off. It’s like, sometimes you just need a little nudge, you know? And maybe this old Chinese wisdom stuff can give you that nudge. I’m not saying I’m a convert or anything, but it was definitely an interesting experience. I might even try it again sometime. Who knows what else I might learn about myself along the way?
I still have these records:
- The oldest forms of the character show a hand holding up an object.
- Hexagram 43 to 28 means major progress.
- Above Tui the Joyous, Lake Below Ch’ien the Creative, Heaven.
- Hexagram 43 to 40 means major.
- Hexagram 43 (夬 gui, displacement, resoluteness, parting.
Maybe these records can help me understand it better.
