Okay, so today I wanted to try out this “read 5 card spread” thing. I’ve seen it around, and it looked interesting, so I figured, why not? I grabbed my deck and found a quiet spot in my house.
First, I shuffled the cards while thinking about a general question I had about my life right now. Nothing too specific, just a general vibe check. After shuffling, I cut the deck into three piles and then put them back together.
Next, I laid out five cards in a row from left to right. The first card was supposed to represent the past, the second the present, the third the near future, the fourth the challenge, and the fifth the potential outcome. I got, let me see, The Fool, the Seven of Cups, Temperance, Ten of Swords, and the Star.

- The Fool: Okay, that kind of makes sense for the past. I did start a big project last year without really thinking it through.
- Seven of Cups: Yeah, I’m feeling that. Lots of options right now, a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
- Temperance: This is telling me I need to find some balance, which is probably true. I’ve been all over the place lately.
- Ten of Swords: Ouch. This one looks rough. Maybe a major change or a difficult ending? Definitely something to watch out for.
- The Star: Well, that’s a relief after the Ten of Swords! Hope, renewal, things looking up in the long run. That’s good to see.
I spent some time just looking at the cards, thinking about how they related to each other and to my current situation. I jotted down some notes in my journal, just some initial thoughts and feelings. I didn’t want to force any interpretations, just kind of let the cards speak to me.
I decided to leave the cards out for the rest of the day, just to see if anything else came to me. I also did a little digging online about some of the cards I wasn’t as familiar with. It was pretty cool to see different perspectives and interpretations.
My Thoughts
Overall, it was a pretty interesting experience. I wouldn’t say it gave me any earth-shattering revelations, but it definitely got me thinking. I think it’s a good way to tap into your intuition and maybe see things from a different angle. It’s a way for me to slow down. I might try it again sometime, maybe with a more specific question. It’s kind of like having a conversation with yourself, but with cards. Which sounds weird, but it was actually pretty cool.
I think next time I do this, I’ll light some incense, make sure the pets are out of the room, you know, set the mood a little better. I was just kind of winging it today. I am sure that I will get better results in a better setting.
