Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Tarot cards lately, just for fun, you know? And I got curious about this one card, the Eight of Swords. It always seemed kinda scary, so I wanted to figure out how to use it for simple “yes” or “no” questions.
First, I grabbed my deck and shuffled it really well. I’m talking really well, like I was trying to win a poker tournament or something. Then, I focused on my question. It wasn’t anything huge, just “Will I finish this craft project today?” (I’ve been putting it off for ages).
I cut the deck, like they show in the movies, and flipped over the top card. Boom. Eight of Swords. Seriously?! Talk about dramatic.

My Initial Reaction (and Googling)
My gut reaction was “Oh, crap.” This card, with the blindfolded person and all the swords, just screams “stuck” and “trapped.” I pretty much felt like throwing in the towel on the craft project right then and there.
Then, cause I am not really know about all the details, so I did a quick search, and it seemed like most people agreed. Eight of Swords usually leans towards a “no” in a yes/no situation. It’s about feeling powerless, self-imposed limitations, and that kind of thing. I totally related – I was feeling pretty stuck and overwhelmed by the project.
Digging a Little Deeper (and Ignoring the Card, Maybe?)
But then, I started thinking… maybe it’s not a hard “no.” Maybe it’s a “no, unless…” Like, “No, you won’t finish it unless you break it down, stop feeling so overwhelmed, and just get started.”
So, I kinda… ignored the “no” part. I mean, not really ignored, but I decided to see it as a challenge. I broke the project down into tiny, tiny steps. First, I just cleared my workspace. Then, I found all the materials. Then, I just did one little part. And guess what?
The Result
I actually made progress! I didn’t finish the whole thing, but I got a good chunk done. So, was the Eight of Swords a “no”? Technically, maybe. But, it was more like a “no, but you can work with this.”

So even I get “no” with the card, but I still did something and made it.
It was a good experience for me to feel the card meaning.
