Okay, so today I decided to mess around with the number 49, calling it “49 hexagram” just for fun. I didn’t have a specific goal, really, just wanted to see what I could do with it. I’ve always been into playing with numbers and patterns, so this was right up my alley.
Starting Simple
First, I grabbed a pen and paper. Yeah, old school, I know. I started by just writing the number 49 down. Then, I thought, “What can I do with this?” I decided to break it down into its components: 4 and 9.
- I added them: 4 + 9 = 13.
- Then I subtracted them: 9 – 4 = 5.
- I even multiplied them: 4 9 = 36.
Pretty basic stuff, I know. But it got me thinking about different ways to manipulate the number.

Getting a Bit More Creative
Next, I tried to see if 49 had any interesting factors. I remembered it’s a perfect square: 7 7 = 49. “Cool,” I thought. That might be useful later.
I then doodled a bit, drawing a 7×7 grid. Just a simple square with 49 smaller squares inside. I started shading some of the squares in different patterns, just to see what it would look like. No real purpose, just playing around.
Experimenting with Patterns
After the grid, I wondered if I could create some sort of sequence or pattern using 49. I went back to the numbers I got earlier (13, 5, and 36) and tried arranging them in different orders. I even added the digits of 49 together repeatedly until I got a single digit: 4 + 9 = 13; 1 + 3 = 4.
- Sequence 1: 49, 13, 5, 36, 4 (Just listing them out).
- Sequence 2: 4, 5, 13, 36, 49 (Ascending-ish order).
Again, nothing groundbreaking, but it was fun to see how these numbers related to each other.
Wrapping Up
In the end, I didn’t really “achieve” anything specific with my “49 hexagram” exploration. But that wasn’t the point. It was more about the process of playing with the number, seeing what I could come up with, and just letting my mind wander. Sometimes, it’s good to just mess around and see where it takes you. Maybe I’ll revisit this later and try to do something more concrete with it. But for now, it was just a fun little exercise.
